This is quite easily what I call a popcorn movie. In other words this is the type of movie I would go and watch with some friends, simply because it is fun to watch. From the trailer itself you can tell it’s the same repeated story, but in reality it’s actually got a few twists.

Basically we have a surprise attack by, erm… blue lights. Yes, blue lights emitted from very beautifully designed spaceships, and this is quite easily the best aspect of the movie. The design of whatever it is that is attacking humans and kidnapping them by the thousands is beautiful, and in this movie, we have some of the best effects to be seen in modern cinemas. Another thing is that one of the characters you’d expect to live through the movie, actually dies, which is nice for a change. There’s one specific scene where the movie hits a climax, but I won’t ruin it. I’ll just tell you it involves flying objects and is one of the best scenes I have ever seen.

Moving on to the dramatic side of the movie, I’d have to say it’s just OK. Nothing special, but nothing honestly bad, just mediocre acting. But there’s just one single con to this movie, the ending is, simply put, disappointing, and you’re left feeling like you’ve been through a rollercoaster which abruptly stops midway.

Overall grade: B
